Get to know: LEE TURNER

Co-Founder & People Leader

Lee Turner (he/him) is a Co-Founder and People Leader at HENSLEE, based in his favorite city, San Francisco, CA, occupying Muwekma Ohlone, and Ramaytush Ohlone land.

As a Co-founder, Lee helps create an equitable and engaging culture for all team members so they can show up authentically and do what inspires them. As a People Leader, he supports his clients’ mission to cultivate and grow their company through a People-first strategy.

Lee began his career in Operations and supported small to midsize businesses across multiple industries for 20+ years where he built his foundation in team and project management. Seeing the intrinsic value in People Operations, he’s spent the last 8 years leading People functions, often being a team of one, and helping companies scale and develop engaged cultures.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

By far, the most inspiring part of my job is helping people.  I’m incredibly motivated to advocate for others and create moments of joy in their daily lives.  People Operations is the best suited function in a company to accomplish this mission.

How do you like to start your day? Do you have a morning routine or ritual?

I always start my day with coffee while reading or listening to a podcast.  Then, it's straight into my workout whether that be a Peleton ride, urban hike, or power yoga class. Physical health is vital to my mental health and I prioritize it above all else.

What is your favorite season?  

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons.  It reminds me of being a kid when the Florida summer heat would finally dissipate and we could wear sweaters, when my brother and I would go to the county fair to ride rides and play games, and most importantly, because Fall contains the best holiday of all, Halloween!
